Two High Concept Labs Spring 2016 Sponsored Artists team up to offer you a feast of sight and sound. Mark Hardy presents a second showing of Synthari Sessions in the HCL studio, and Stephan Moore reprises the interactive installation Performer Standing with Curtain on the 6th floor of Mana Contemporary Chicago. You’ll be free to take in both projects at your leisure and enjoy a night of innovative new work.
Synthari Sessions
K-rAd is musician/composer Mark Hardy and sound engineer and electronic musician Chris Grabowski. Mark and Chris have been collaborating since roughly 1998 and the Synthari Sessions are another chapter in their work together. K-rAd’s custom-built modular synthesizers are a natural companion to Mark Hardy’s traditional sitar-playing, and in every Synthtari Session, music of the Future and music of the Past combines into the music of Now.
Performer Standing with Curtain
Performer Standing with Curtain is the latest collaborative project by sound artist and interaction designer Stephan Moore. Explore the current state of this interactive installation by the group a canary torsi and participate in its growth by sharing your feedback with the creators. Get an exclusive in-process look at this important new work and have a hand in its continued development.
In the durational experience of Performer Standing with Curtain, an audience member engages in a duet with a projected image of a performer in a unique iteration of the recorded performance. Together, they create a mirrored connection that is intimate, transformative, and meaningful. No experience of the piece is the same. Performer Standing with Curtain is the latest project by choreographer Yanira Castro, installation artist Kathy Couch, interaction designer Stephan Moore, and filmmaker Julie Wyman.
